Increase in Housing Demand in India’s Urban Areas
It is necessary, if not crucial, to possess decent homes with or without a gated community set-up in urban cities well-built for future generations and such homes will also aid in their education. This choice is critical for every person and family in a nation like India, where daily the number of people is increasing enormously. It is indeed the standard of living that is improving the idea of securing at least one dwelling unit for their children’s future. This also drives the government to constantly change its outlook on policies for sustainable housing. Yes, we are progressing and in that our nation is also progressing, and we are proud of that.
Responsibilities Toward Climate Protection
With that development, we also have to accept the obligations and accountability that growth comes with. This truth holds true for man, city and country all over the globe. Our duty to the course is to safeguard the future of our children and our climate which currently faces a stark reality. Sustainable development cannot be to the detriment of the environment; this is a rule that cannot be breached.
Climate Change Exacerbation: A Shared Global Problem
Climate change is driven by the emissions of greenhouse gases that are a hazard to the environment and we all have to do our part in order to help fight this issue. Recent reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is an associated group of the United Nations, have highlighted that climate change is an immediate threat and needs more vigorous action to protect the future.
The Need for Green Building Concepts
In real estate the aspect of green building is now more important than ever. It is a matter of fact that real estate is among the major forces in the development of the world’s economies and this has its implications for climate change. Therefore, we congratulate the Confederation of Real Estate Industry of India (CREDAI) for collaborating with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in undertaking the construction of four thousand green projects. This initiative is a welcome step towards creating a healthy built environment.
Transforming into a Waste-Free Society
It is important to have a vision of a Zero Waste Society. Each building unit in this society should discharge zero water, sewer, garbage and debris, should not use too much electricity but maximize its purpose, and must have a facility for recycling or converting all types of waste into usable and energy resources. A green building site is not a concept but a mandatory requirement to reduce pollution and ensure that our towns will achieve not only developing but also ecological balance.
Assuring Enabling Environment
Also, I would like to congratulate all of you in CREDAI for this major achievement and be rest assured of our intention to comply with each and every guideline that he mentioned. We shall, as we have done in the past, carry out these practices in the implementation of our projects. We believe that this initiative by CREDAI will be useful in realising the aims set up by the United Nations Organisations like the IPCC in respect of cutting back on greenhouse emissions.
