In West Bengal, the land is measured in Chatak. Thus in west Bengal, it is said that, 1 Chatak is equal to 180 square feet.
Lecha
Lecha is another unit of measurement which is widely used in the state of Assam whereby 1 Lecha is equal to 144 square feet.
North India
Ga
Another unit of measurement commonly used in the regions of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana is called Gaj whereby 1 Gaj is equal to 1 square yard which is approximately equal to 9 square feet.
Bigha
The most commonly used measurement across the states of Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is Bigha although as usual the case even this value varies from state to state but as an approximation 406 Bighas of land is equal to an acre of land.
Biswa
Biswa is a land measurement unit commonly used in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. The value tends to fluctuate as location changes but it roughly stands around a 50 to 150 yard range since 1 Biswa is calculated in these terms.
Biswani
It is a unit commonly used in U. P, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It goes like 1 Biswa is equal to 20 Biswanis.
Killa
In Punjab and Haryana, an acre of land is referred to as Killa.
Kanal
Kanal is a land measurement unit used in Haryana, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. To break this down further, 8 Kanals is equal to 1 Acre.
Ghumao
In the states of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, the word Ghumao is Used for an acre of land.
Sarsahi
In most of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh 1 Sarsahi is commonly known as 30.25 square feet which is referred to as Sarsahi.
Marla
272.25 square feet is the area that 1 Marla denotes and this type of measurement is found in regions of Haryana and Punjab.
South India
Ankanam
Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka’s population uses Ankanam, a land measurement of 72 square feet which is measuring its area.
Guntha
Land in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra is measured using Guntha, one Guntha equates to 1,089 square feet.
Kuncham
This term is most commonly used within the state of Andhra Pradesh, and it refers to a tract of land measuring 484 square feet.
Ground
It is predominantly used in the state of Tamil Nadu while measuring land size. This term relates to the measurement of 2400 square feet of land as well.
Cent
Cent is a unit of measure in the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where 1 cent is equal to 435.6 square feet.
